Several hundred turbo-electric
drive tankers of this design were built during World War II. Construction
of the vessels was standardized to meet the need of Uncle Sam for maximum
production during the period 1942-1945. After valiantly supplying our
troops during World War II, the T2 Tanker served as the backbone of the
tanker industry for many years.
